Pumpkin everything, please! Fall is coming and I am so excited! The leaves are beginning to change and the temperatures will soon drop. Sweaters, scarves, and warm slippers can be brought out of storage with anticipation for those cozy nights around the fire. Because I am so excited for Fall I am beginning to start the process of bringing Fall inside of my home.
To start with I am adding pops of red, orange, and yellow all throughout the house to bring in the beautiful Fall colors. Fairy lights with dim bulbs will be hung and the warm flannel blankets will be placed in the family room. Setting a cozy atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy your family is so important and is good for your emotional well-being.
In “The Little Book of Hygge” by Meik Wiking he quotes, “ Hygge is humble and slow. It is choosing rustic over new, simple over posh and ambiance over excitement.” Hygge is about choosing simple things so one activity I have lined up for my family is a leaf scavenger hunt.
Once the hunt is over we will bring the leaves inside and use some of them as part of a centerpiece and the other to make fun DIY art projects!
It wouldn’t be Fall without pumpkins! Because pumpkins usually do not tend to hold up when keeping them in my house, I love getting plastic pumpkins and spray painting them. These will last for several years and look beautiful sitting in a basket on display. They can be painted any color but light colors are my personal favorite.

Warm teas and warm pumpkin spice drinks will be just what is needed once the cold crisp air arrives. My Hyggehaus wooden storage organizer that I decorated using fresh picked flowers will be perfect to store all of my teas and spices!
To finish my home off, I have found the perfect essential oil blend for this Fall. “Pumpkin Spice” which includes 5 drops of cinnamon, 2 drops of clove, and 1 drop of nutmeg will be the perfect blend to add to my diffuser and finish bringing the season inside of my home.
How do you prepare your home for Fall? We would love to hear from you! Use the #hyggehauslife and tell us how you are preparing for this Fall season!
